Description
The Executive Branch Ethics Commission, authorized by KRS 11A.060, is an independent agency of the Commonwealth that has been given the responsibility of administering and enforcing the provisions of the Code of Ethics. The advice, investigation, and enforcement duties of the Commission require policy-making staff to carry out these statutorily required functions.
This policy-making position provides executive level support by assisting the General Counsel and Executive Director with expert legal advice, research, policy development, investigation, and enforcement related to KRS 11A. Like county attorneys and Commonwealth Attorneys, the role is responsible for investigating violations, drafting charges and prosecuting those, drafting legal memorandum, reviewing relevant statutes, regulations, and proposed legislation. Additional duties include representing the Executive Branch Ethics Commission in court litigation and legal matters involving the Commission, as well as helping to coordinate responses to open records requests.
