Description
Wiley, a leading law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Graphic Design Specialist to support our Marketing department. The Graphic Design Specialist creates, produces, and manages internal and external visual communication projects in support of the Marketing Department and the firm. The position serves as brand steward to ensure brand and overall marketing objectives are accurately translated into designs across the firm. In addition, the Graphic Design Specialist works directly with attorneys and other legal personnel to create client-matter visual collateral.
Remote work may be permitted in accordance with the firm’s flexible work policy and based on business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Creates, produces, and manages various creative projects including advertisements, displays, event collateral, intranet graphics, presentations, promotional products, publications, social media, video, website, and other digital or print collateral.
Serves as a brand steward to ensure consistency of the firm's visual identity. Maintains firm-wide logo use standards for internal and external visual communications. Designs and develops processes that allow internal stakeholders to produce brand compliant collateral for internal and external communications (including but not limited to various templates for InDesign, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Designs and produces branded visual assets for digital systems including apps, email marketing, webinars, video, social media, and other digital platforms.
Creates, produces, and manages digital asset libraries for firm email marketing, intranet, website, social media, video, and other digital platforms.
Sources and evaluates stock photography and illustrations, and manages an image library, keeping it relevant and organized for firm use.
Processes and maintains a consistent attorney portrait library for internal and external collateral.
Coordinates with external vendors including consultants, commercial printers, and freelancers. Requests estimates, manages proof approvals, and manages expectations between vendors and internal clients.
Collaborates with attorneys and legal support to conceptualize and produce litigation demonstratives that illustrate a specific narrative through data visualization. Demonstrative evidence explains complex data and or concepts for a trial or hearing to support facts that the party is trying to prove.
Collaborates with attorneys and legal support to produce client-matter visual collateral (including but not limited to enhanced photography, timelines, graphs, infographics, maps, object illustrations, and visual comparatives). Creates, produces, and manages projects for timely delivery.
Assist with publishing and formatting communication materials including publications, podcasts and other firm news.
Develops and maintains knowledge of the United States Patent and Trademark Office for patent and trademark rules, adhering to said rules to produce patent drawings, corrective replacement drawings, and trademark art and specimens.
Requirements

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both in oral and written form

Proactively works to expand skillset through training, research, webinars and evaluates latest design trends and relevant creative software applications.
Proficiency with office productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat); aptitude for learning new software strongly preferred
Flexibility to work overtime on an as-needed basis
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Five to seven years Desktop Publishing/Graphics and branding experience
Strong familiarity with window-based software, including the Wiley core applications, HTML, and graphic applications including InDesign, PageMaker, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Illustrator
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
An on-site presence is an essential function of this position. Remote work may be permitted in accordance with the firm’s flexible work policy and based on business needs
Position operates in a professional office environment which is usually quiet to moderate
Position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
Position requires that the employee be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is primarily a sedentary position. However, some duties and responsibilities may require the employee to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, occasionally move about to access office equipment, file cabinets, etc.
May require employee to carry or lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
OTHER DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
Meets the department’s expectations to retrieve, read and/or respond to firm and client-related e-mail messages during and outside of core business and scheduled work hours by connecting a personal mobile device (smartphone or tablet with a data plan) to the firm’s network
